Extraction of Wood Compounds by Use of Subcritical Fluids
نویسندگان
چکیده
A study of the extraction of oak wood compounds with subcritical water-ethanol mixtures as extractant, with an ethanol content between 0-60%, is reported. Identification and characterisation of the extracted compounds have been made by spectrophotometry and gas chromatography with either flame ionisation or mass detectors. Extraction was performed statically manner by use of a single cycle or repeated cycles. All variables affecting the extraction process were studied and optimised. Extraction time and temperature are 60 min and 200oC, respectively. Comparison of the extract thus obtained with commercial extracts showed the former to be rich in compounds characteristic of the commercial extracts. The method enables manipulation of the extract composition by changing the temperature and water/ethanol ratio used. It is faster than the traditional procedures for obtaining wood extracts.

Ginger is one of the commonly used spices that has been exhibited to have pharmaceutical activities. These therapeutic properties are mainly attribute to gingerols and shogaols. To extract these bioactive compounds, subcritical water extraction (SWE) was employed as a green method. The influence of adding co-solvents, temperature, retention time and particle size on extraction yield were invest...

Conventional methods for extraction of the active constituents from herbal plants, in addition to their high processing costs, are harmful to the environment owing to their time and energy consumption, uncontrollable parameters, use of toxic and dangerous solvents, loss of the extract, thermal instability, the contamination of the product with organic solvents and the loss of water-soluble comp...
متن کاملA New Tri-Parametrical Law of Corresponding States for Subcritical Dense Fluids
This article introduces a new tri-parameter law of corresponding states from the known regularities, namely the LIR and Zeno line for dense fluids (when Tz=Tc). Two of these parameters are the Zeno line parameters and the third parameter (the fluid parameter), has been obtained from the LIR, this parameter is solely dependent upon the fluid characteristics. The third parameter ca...
